This is a game to improve your vocabulary. Every time you get a correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated through the United Nations World Food Programme. When you give the wrong answer, no rice is donated, but the question will reappear a few questions later. It will actually repeat periodically 'til you get it right. You can't help but learn a thing or 2.
If you're already a vocab wiz, you can learn some other languages- French, Spanish, Italian and German. This section doesn't have the pronunciation, though. You can also choose art, basic math, chemistry and geography. I think there are levels of difficulty, but I haven't checked into that yet.
So, for even a few seconds of time, you may learn something and you will be helping feed the hungry. It's a win-win for me. |

| Hate to say it, but the concept kind of pisses me off. It would be more productive to just donate the damn rice, and a hell of a lot more than ten grains at that, |

First, I posted it because it's the kind of game I enjoy.
Second, if someone benefits from my idle time, then I'm good with that. 10 grains of rice may not seem like much, but it adds up. It sort of the same concept as making a charitable contribution that is matched by a corporation or employer. It provides an incentive for people to participate.
Third, you can donate money directly through the site if you think that is more productive. |
